How many B series 4/4s were produced?
B series were produced with the Ford 1597 cc engine, and a total of 3512 were made. This includes 2017 2-seaters and 1491 4-seaters. These were made from February1968 - March 1982.

How many F series 4/4s were produced?
There were only 93 Morgans produced with the Fiat engine of 1600 cc. This includes 47 2 - seaters and 35 4 - seaters. Also included were 10 2 - liter Fiat engines towards the end of the run. Production was from April 1981 - November 1985.

A total of 2422 4/4s were made with the Ford 1600 CVH engine. This included 1685 2 - seaters and 680 4 - seaters. Production was from March 1982 - February 1993.

How did Isis Imports get its name?
Bill Fink, owner of Isis Imports, was on the crew team for Oxford, and used to row on a branch of the Thames known as the Isis. By coincidence, I learned that in various mythological accounts, there is a strong connection between the goddess Isis and the goddess Morgan, which Bill was unaware of. Many mythological historians believe that they were one and the same.

When did the louvers change on the Morgan's bonnet?
The louvers on the pre-WW2 Morgans were wider than today's. The press to make them was lost during the war, and a new one was bought, which was shorter. It may still be the one in use today!

How many LeMans specials were made?
Seven were made in 1938, only one of which was a 4-seater. Other than the requisite changes for the two extra seats, the rest of the car was pure LeMans.

Series 1 #238 with Ford V8. In review of +8 July 1985, PM quoted as saying frame was extended to fit. Is this correct?
No, there was not an extended frame, but was fitted to the standard 4-4 frame.

Remembered: a Cocteau film,late 40's. Orphee et Euridice(sp?)great atmosphere & drama,reminiscent of the 30's, especially with connection to automobiles. Is there a "Morgan" in this film?
I think it may have been a "Darmont" Morgan. Distinctly remember the two way spoken connection to Hades via the chauffeur telephone (or radio?) of a Rolls. Superb!

How many models of Morgans were there in the 1920's, and what were their names?
In order from the cheapest, they were: Standard, which included a four-seater;, then the Family, then the Grand Prix, the Aero, and the top model, the Super Sports Aero. The top SS could exceed 80 mph! Another model was the De-Luxe, and a Van was made, but no original models exist of it today, except for two copies.

The 1998/99 Morgan Plus 8 4.6 shares the honors with which other stock engine as having the highest horsepower ever produced in a standard form of the block?
The 1963 Oldsmobile Turbo Jetfire. Yet within the Morgan community, if one assumed that "stock" was defihned as standard when leaving the Agent rather than shipped from the Work, the prize would go to the Turbo version of the Isis propane Plus 8.

How many F-Type Morgans were exported after World War 11?
There were 36 F Types exported from 1946 - 1952, when production ceased. Of these, 20 were the F4 model and the rest were F Supers. Only one F4 went to America, and that was it.

Has the wheelbase changed on 4-wheeled Morgans since 1936?
Yes, from 92 inches in 1936 to 96 inches in 1955. The current wheelbase is 98 inches. The Plus 4 wheelbase began in 1950 as 96 inches and increased about 1992 to 98 inches to match the Plus 8. The Plus 8 and Plus 4 wheelbases have increased from 98 inches to 100 inches in 1997, when the long door models were begun.

Did you know that a Morgan F4 flew in a B-29?
I do know that at least one F4 flew back to California in the belly of a B-29 roundabout 1947 courtesy of its Captain, now deceased. I don't know who owns that F4 now, or if it exists. The Captain later owned a Daimler SP-250, which he campaigned on a number of Pikes Peak climbs, and then sold in the 2000s to a Morgan friend who restored it,

Did you know that a Morgan Plus 4 rode in a submarine to Sydney, Australia?
I can tell you a story about one of the first three Plus 4’s to come to Sydney.. Inthose days our submarine fleet was on rotating secondment from the UK. They used to unload the torpedos for the next sub when the secondment ended. The sub’s commander shipped it back on the sub when his tour of duty ended. Douglas MCDonald, who bought and used to race and rally one of the others, witnessed the crew manhandling the Morgan down into the torpedo bay.

It was dispatched March 13,1951, and was chassis # 1902, LHD. It was built in August 1949, but probably held up due to steering problems. The officially accepted last chassis number was 2081, a DHC, and was dispatched February 20, 1951

History of Morgan bumpers 1954 - 2010
European Morgan bumpers 1954 - 2010, 1954-1961, Chrome bumper with starting handle provision. Shaped blade with flat ends. Standard front. Option at rear. Probable Ford E93 UK small saloon. Overriders at rear as standard. These have a "shell" like appearance on the flange, 1962-1976, Chrome bumper at front as standard. Rounded ends. Ford 105e. Overriders at rear as standard and fitted to front bumper as standard also. Body as for Morris Minor and Standard 10 but fitting plate welded arcs different angle, 1977-1991/2, Aluminum squared shape bumper. Standard front and rear. (Produced for Morgan in a factory owned by Holdens at Bromyard - now demolished), 1992/3, Chrome on steel bumper of similar shape to previous alloy one. Short production. Many quality issues, 1994-1997, Stainless steel bumper with open ends, 1998- on, Stainless steel bumper with enclosed ends. Fitted as standard to 2003. Optional cost extra afterwards, 2002, "Tusk" type overriders fitted to Le Mans 62 limited edition, 2003- on, "Tusk" type overriders fitted as standard to some models (Some "special" models had no bumpers or overriders" as standard front and rear.

How many Transitional Plus 4 Morgans were produced?
There were only 19 cars produced with the flat grille, and about 10 remain, including 7 in the US. This includes 6 roadsters, 1 DHC, and 1 4-seater in England. Most of the others were converted to the "More Modern" curved grille by their owners. MMC contracted with a vendor to produce 20 grilles, but one remained as a spare, and was discovered in an attic in 1978.

Re trivia, car chassis 1 is listed as grey( may have been in primer) but aside from this the first 4/4 other than in green was blue, a works car ( possibly AUY 33). There were around 139 cars despatched or as works cars in 1936. Around 46 were in colours other than green, including one more in grey, 7 blue, 14 red/black, 15 black, 9 blue/ black, 7 ivory, 1 red, and 1 cream. There were 8 4/4's despatched for export in 1936. Six went to France and 2 to Australia. Chassis 44 was the first, on 6 July, chassis #075 on 4 September 1936, both to France, and Chassis #070 to Australia on 21 September 1936. While Australia's first 4/4 came in as a complete car, the second to arrive #079 came in chassis form only and was bodied in Melbourne, to the early body style but with front hinged doors.

2008, with a few being installed by special order in 2009. This was an economizing move. For the previous couple of years, Morgans were delivered with the lamps installed, but unwired, due to regulations. The new owner could then do it himself.

What is the size and when were the Rostyle wheels offered on Plus 8s?
Morgan switched to the Rostyle-type when Dunlop stopped making their 15" pierced dick wheel. Morgan got a deal on and bought up the old stock of Rostyles that were used on export Beetles. These are 4 stud 15" wheels with a silver rim and a spoked look from silver painted "spokes" on a black background. The lot lasted ten years until 1990 when wire wheels became standard. How many bars did the first 4-4 Morgans have in their grille?
None! The early 4-4s were fitted with a wire mesh radiator grille, which was standard until 1938, when Morgan began to use the upright slatted grille. The wire mesh was still available as an option until the beginning of World War II.

1987. sometimes they covered the sides as well . I cannot recall seeing one with black painted sides but in those days a lot was done with a brush in the despatch bay (generally by David “Big Ears” in the 70:80s and he used to drip the paint badly !)

What is the difference in the "High line" and "Low line" Morgans of the mid-60s?
The “low line” body as first used on the Le Mans entry was actually the body design/size from the 4/4 of the time. The 4/4 was slightly narrower and the cowl was lower although the grill was the same as the Plus4 at the time as long grills disappeared at the end of the 1950s . This “low line” body was then used on production Plus 4 Supersports and Competition models alongside the standard higher bodies (higher cowl and bonnet lines / higher less sloping rear panels etc) of the standard Plus 4 until (as you say) 1966/7 when the previously designated “lowline” body became standard across the whole range of 2 seater cars . The reason the 4/4 body was used for the Le Mans entry was to make the car appear “more modern” as previously entries had been refused by the organisers as the cars looked too old fashioned !

I suspect you refer to the 80s Agatha Christie's "At Bertams Hotel." In the version I saw, the perp was female, and did drive off in a Morgan.

Was HFS's last Morgan a flat rad or a curved cowl?
Both - His DHC, P 2612, a 1952 model, started life as a flat rad, but went through several incarnations while it belonged to him, the last being a low-line curved cowl in 1958. It was sold from the factory in 1960.
